The Record Industry's Decline - A well-written article explaining the downfall of the music industry. One of the major problems was the gap between shutting down Napster and the establishment of iTunes, and fighting against those who wanted to download singles instead of embracing it.
The record companies have created this situation themselves... The labels were dinosaurs.
A great example of a company embracing user's needs is Nintendo, and how they have ported many of their old-school games to the Wii for $5 to $10 before hackers emulated the games themselves.
