Posting to Movable Type 5 using XML-RPC and PHP

I haven't been updating my blog as often, and I think I've figured out why. I'm lazy. With the simplicity of sharing a link to friends in Facebook, setting up a post in Movable Type just seems cumbersome. So I thought, why can't I make my own cool interface to paste in a URL and have it generate all the elements, like the preview thumbnail, automatically.

So, I needed a way to post to MT, preferably without using Perl. Luckily, Movable Type, like most major blogging platforms (Wordpress, Blogger) supports XML-RPC, a standard way of doing remote procedure calls using XML.

Updating Movable Type's Facebook Commenters Plugin

Facebook is notorious for updating their API with breaking changes almost on a weekly basis, and Movable Type, as much as I love it, the development and community is not as large as it used to be. So right now the Facebook Commenters plugin doesn't work out of the box, and requires a couple changes to work with the new API:
