Colbert Report: Heated Debate - This is probably one of the greatest commentaries to come from the Colbert Report.
Colbert on Barry Lucier, a student who complained that he had to watch Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" in his college class:
At a 'college', Barry was forced to think something that he didn't already think... of course he's bitter: he's enrolled a class where the professor thinks he knows more about the subject than the students. The last time I checked, that is the definition of elitism... They probably also told him that the earth revolves around the sun... Who knows what destructive information they will be confronted with next!... Students [should be] guaranteed that when they leave college they'll be exactly the same from when they went in. That folks, is what I believe college is for. You take these young unformed lumps of clay, leave them unformed lumps, then fire them in the kiln of unchallenged thought so they become rigid and never movie again. That's how you get well educated like Barry.
Watch the whole clip, I guarantee you'll be laughing your ass off.
