The first night of Summerfest was tonight. There were no bands I was interested in seeing tonight so I just went for the fireworks. No interesting groups all run, really, except 'The Roots' next Friday.
Penguin Cafe Orchestra - Perpetuum Mobile - Thanks to Shazam for the iPhone (arguably the best application ever created... why the give it away for free I'll never understand) I finally found this song that I've been searching for years to find... only from a 15 second snippit at the end of a podcast! You might find it familiar because it was used in some HP and GE commercials. Amazing song.
Hunch Decision Maker - Ask it a question, answer a few questions about yourself, and it tells you what you should do. A tad more accurate than an 8-ball. It says my next phone should be an iPhone. Right on!
"America's poor educational performance is weakening its economy. A recent report from McKinsey, a management consultancy, argues that the lagging performance of the country's school pupils, particularly its poor and minority children, has wreaked more devastation on the economy than the current recession."
p.s. Next to the New York Times, the Economist's website is beyond excellent for civil and level-headed user-submitted comments.
30 Rock is a Rip-Off of the Muppet Show - You know what, I never thought about it. But after reading this several-page blog outlining the similiarities, it's exactly the Muppet Show. Probably why I love the show so much. (p.s. Bring back the Muppet Show, whoever owns the muppets now!)
And then I just stumbled across this skit of 30 Rock which is allegedlyfrom Sesame Street. (can anyone verify?). If it is, It's a wonderful way to bring kids and parents together to watch the show and both enjoy it.
Stimulus Winner Is Ford - Apparently we have so little faith in the car companies we (the U.S. government) bailed out (GM, Chrysler), a majority of the cars we bought to replenish our federal fleet were from Ford. Ha!
GM Reinvention Commercial - This is an extremely impressive commercial that GM cranked out in a day to explain the bankruptcy and their future. At least their public relations department over there knows what they're doing.
