Sobering up: Behind Madison's harder line on downtown booze - Some comments of note on the controversial Cap Times article:
"A simple and easy reduction of many alcohol related problems could be realized by eliminating the ridiculous and entirely arbitrary bar time."
"While drinkers are out getting into bar fights ... the pot smoker is at home in their living room looking for their other shoe. Policy implications?"
"For students, there is almost nothing to do downtown that does not involve drinking ... UW square (with movie theaters) closed ... Union South will close soon with the bowling alley ... music venues are not cheap and so it's drink, drink, drink"
"I own many student rental houses- they are basically underground bars without any regulation. The less liquor lic. you give out, the more underground bars you will have."

Facebook to roll out new design
Facebook has just announced they're going to start rolling out the new layout tomorrow for select users. At least it has improved a lot since the last time I posted a snapshot.

I Met The Walrus -
"In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace."
The animation is really fun.

Best Naming Scheme for a Group of Computers? - One person replied:
"The University of Wisconsin CS Dept. used cheeses. Never seemed to have a problem with running out, although they named two machines kraft-slices and velveeta, and the lawyers moved in and made them change."
Does anyone know if this is true?
